The Lawrence School, Sanawar begins 179th Founder’s Day celebrations

Chandigarh:  The Lawrence School, Sanawar, one of the world’s oldest co-educational residential schools commenced its three-day 179th Founder’s Day celebrations on Saturday with a vibrant mix of sporting, alumni and cultural activities, bringing together students, parents, staff and Old Sanawarians (OS). The opening day began with an Old Sanawarians (OS) vs Present Sanawarians (PS) girls’ basketball match followed by a boys’ futsal match between the two teams at Peacestead. The sporting events provided an opportunity for alumni and present students to reconnect through healthy competition and camaraderie. A special Assembly for the Old Sanawarian Jubilee Batches of 1956, 1961, 1966, 1971, 1976, 1996 and 2001 was held at the historic School Chapel, followed by group photographs at the Golden Staircase. Alumni returning to their alma mater after several years reunited with old classmates and friends, turning the gathering into an emotional celebration of memories, friendships and the enduring Sanawar bond. Day two will feature the Annual Athletic Meet, Annual Prize Distribution, school fete, concert and Tattoo Light and Sound Show. The celebrations will conclude on Monday with Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Krishna Swaminathan as Chief Guest and the traditional Trooping of the School Flag. Ruchi Pradhan Datta, Headmaster, said Founder’s Day celebrates Sanawar’s spirit, traditions and values while bringing students, staff, parents and Old Sanawarians together to celebrate their shared heritage.
