CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Congress on Friday alleged that several of its leaders had been placed under house arrest, while some were being taken into custody to prevent them from participating in the protests in Delhi against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The state Congress, however, said that despite the house arrests, a large number of the party workers would reach the national capital on Saturday and extend their support to INDIA bloc members protesting against CEC. It further claimed that those placed under house include the party's district presidents and workers. Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that the BJP has resorted to dictatorial tactics to suppress the movement against vote theft. He said that the government's oppressive tactics would only make the movement stronger. “Opposition leaders and activists across the country are being detained. However, the government is under the illusion that it can halt this movement by employing such tactics. The agitation by the Congress and the entire INDIA alliance will continue until Gyanesh Kumar resigns, the longer he delays his resignation, the more intensified our movement will become,” he said..
