Chandigarh: The Advanced Eye Centre of the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, has emerged as a pioneering centre for specialised paediatric glaucoma care, with 7,269 children managed over the past year. The dedicated Paediatric Glaucoma Service, developed over the past 14 years, has grown into a major national and international referral centre for the management, research and advancement of childhood glaucoma. The centre’s sustained efforts in specialised clinical care, research and innovation have strengthened its position as a leading facility for children suffering from glaucoma. PGIMER Director Prof. Vivek Lal expressed happiness over the achievement and said the institute had consistently pursued excellence by combining advanced clinical care with research, innovation and education. He said the remarkable growth of the Paediatric Glaucoma Service into a nationally and internationally recognised centre was a testament to PGIMER’s commitment to excellence in patient care, research and medical education.
