Chandigarh: The Department of Psychiatry, Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Chandigarh, in collaboration with NGO Parivartan, observed World Suicide Prevention Day on Thursday on the GMCH campus. The event was organised around the theme, “Changing the Narrative on Suicide,” highlighting the need to replace silence and stigma with openness, empathy and understanding. Faculty members, resident doctors and students participated in various awareness activities. A special “Stories of Hope” installation displayed messages shared by patients, highlighting resilience and recovery. Important information on helplines and guidelines for seeking immediate assistance was also displayed. A signature board provided participants with an opportunity to pledge their support for suicide prevention.
