‘Shaping Clay, Nurturing Minds’: PGIMER Uses Pottery to Promote Mental Health

Chandigarh: The Department of Psychiatry at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Chandigarh Skill Development Mission, National Skill Development Corporation and Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi organised an Inclusive Pottery Workshop-cum-Competition at the Drug De-addiction and Treatment Centre, PGIMER. The event was organised under SAMARTH – Shaping Clay, Nurturing Minds, a collaborative initiative aimed at promoting mental health awareness, creative expression, skill development and vocational empowerment. Dr Subho Chakrabarti, Professor and Head, Department of Psychiatry, PGI, said, “Mental health care must extend beyond symptom management to helping individuals rebuild confidence, discover their strengths and participate meaningfully in society. Through SAMARTH, we aim to create an inclusive ecosystem that brings together mental health awareness, creative expression, skill development and employment opportunities.”
